WB.T-RackS 4 CS doesn't have any recording ability, you shouldn't get any unwanted artifacts (nor should anybody and it shouldn't matter what genre music you are dealing with), and the manual should clearly lay out anything that's complex but we really stick to how the real hardware works so it sounds like you may want to take a closer look at T-RackS. I use mine as separate units, for mastering most of the time, the EQ is especially good, and simple to use. The later versions of T-Racks are a complete failure in my opinion, too complicated, what was it with the real time recorder ? who thought that was a necessary or good idea ? they lost the plot with version 2.

I suppose it depends on what sort of music you produce, it is more noticeable on classical, and ambient music, but not so on heavy rock or electronica. A friend also has the same version as me, and his does the same. The distortion is of the "bad" type, that shouldn't be there, not a wanted artifact. I have T-Racks classic, the yellow one, it is good, but it does ad some unwanted distortion, especially if you use the Clipper, which I always switch out.
